What is Green Design at Home?

Green home aesthetics are a very popular subject right now and a lot of people are asking, 'what is green design when it comes to my home?'

A house designed with 'green' principles incorporates characteristics to reduce the carbon footprint. These elements could include better-insulated walls or more acceptable use of natural energy, such as sun and wind, using a higher content of recycled and environmentally friendly materials with a long life cycle.

It is very popular now to design your home with the environment in mind — minimizing waste by recycling and using recycled materials and being as energy efficient as possible.

What is Green Design in the Workplace?

If you work in a building dedicated to your company alone, green design is relatively easy to implement. For example, you could remove the odd wall or two to use natural light to increase employee happiness and reduce lighting bills. However, suppose you work in a tall city block with many other offices. In that case, your green design transitions are limited to interior changes as structural elements would involve many collective decisions. Not impossible, but indeed more difficult.

Where offices and workplaces are involved, you can ask, 'what is green design?' and colleagues will give lots of different answers.Where offices and workplaces are involved, you can ask, 'what is green design?' and colleagues will give lots of different answers. It depends on the building or the kind of role your company or business plays in society.

In summary, any building that encompasses biophilic design principles, such as increasing occupant connectivity to the natural environment, follows the green design rule.
